On Monday evening, Oct 18, 2010, Mr. Rajeev Sharma, CEO of ABSi Corporation and his wife, Mrs. Seema Sharma, graciously hosted President Barack Obama at their home in Rockville, MD, along with Senators Barbara Mikulski and Ben Cardin of Maryland and Congressman Chris Van Hollen of Maryland. Rajeev and Seema express their sincerest gratitude to their co-hosts, including Dr. Salomon Melgen, Mr. Bob Meyerhoff, Ms. Rose Slade, Mr. Pedro Pablo Permuy, and Mr. Sunil Puri, and to all who attended. They also want to acknowledge the assistance of the DSCC, Senator Robert Menendez of New Jersey, Chairman, and White House staffs, with special thanks to Roshan Patel of the DSCC and the advance team from the White House.
We were very honored indeed by the President's visit to our home" said Rajeev Sharma, CEO of ABSi Corporation. In welcoming the President, Rajeev Sharma referenced his family's immigrant background and praised the opportunities to be had in this country. Additionally, Sharma described the entrepreneurial dynamism still found in the United States of America and how "American ingenuity and innovation were powerful forces" still capable to transform the world. "At ABSi, we work hard everyday to do our part to innovate in renewable energy and high technology to help restore American economic leadership globally and to provide high quality jobs," added Sharma.
The President very eloquently stated in his remarks on Monday evening:
"Most of us here came from someplace else -- or our parents came from someplace else, or our grandparents, our great grandparents came from someplace else. And they were inspired by a particular idea, this idea of America… And that idea, over the course of 200-plus years, evolved into an understanding not just here in America but around the world that in the United States…if you were willing to make sacrifices for the future and not just think about short-term gain, that somehow it would be possible for you to achieve dreams that someplace else you might never imagine possible."
"And we have to remember that as long as we think towards the future and not just towards the present, that America will prosper, and that the 21st century will be the American Century, just as the 20th was."
It was indeed a high honor and privilege for Rajeev, Seema and the rest of us at ABSi to have the President of the United States visit with us. Please see immediately below the White House press release on the event:
