Rajeev Sharma; President and CEO

With over 25 years experience in the information technology industry, Rajeev Sharma brings an impressive track record of success to his position as the CEO and founder of ABSi. Establishing ABSi in 1995, Mr. Sharma has steadily guided the company to distinction and prominence as a recognized technology consulting and solutions company. Since its inception, ABSi has grown steadily with consecutive quarters of revenue growth and positive cash flow performance. Mr. Sharma’s entrepreneurial vision has guided ABSi from it origins as a systems integrator focused on the federal government, to a recognized innovator in the emerging global market for next-generation wireless. Mr. Sharma’s leadership, business philosophy and commitment to ethical business practices has facilitated ABSi’s growth in highly competitive markets, and attainment of outstanding levels of customer loyalty and satisfaction.

Mr. Sharma’s knowledge of the IT industry was honed during his many years of service at IBM.  He previously worked in IBM’s World Wide Government Systems Group managing US Federal and Law Enforcement customers such as the FBI, the Department of Justice Criminal Division, and the Immigration and Naturalization Service.  Mr. Sharma also led IBM’s efforts in support of special Law Enforcement task forces, including the BCCI investigation, Operation Polar cap (a multi-agency money laundering initiative), and the regional HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area) initiatives. Mr. Sharma holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics degree from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Kevin Donohue; Chief Operating Officer

As Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Donohue manages all consulting and software projects at ABSi.  His skills in hardware, software, database systems, and large-scale program management allow ABSi to deliver comprehensive solutions to a wide range of customers.  Mr. Donohue has developed and managed IT systems solutions for more than 20 years.  He joined ABSi in 1998.

Prior to joining ABSi, Mr. Donohue's experience includes spending ten years as an IBM systems architect for classified federal customers, and also working as a U.S. Air Force officer managing IT.  Mr. Donohue holds a bachelor of science degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and has pursued post-graduate study for a master's degree in Business Administration.  He is an IBM Certified Engineer for the RS/6000 SP and pSeries products, AIX, and storage systems, and has completed more than 3,500 hours of focused technical education.

Joseph Carlin; Executive VP Corporate Development & General Counsel

Mr. Carlin is ABSi’s Executive Vice President for Corporate Development and the Company’s General Counsel. As the EVP for Corporate Development, Mr. Carlin is responsible for developing and executing on the Company’s strategic growth initiatives, including investments in new technologies and business lines, the establishment of international subsidiaries and operations and the Company’s acquisition program. As General Counsel, Mr. Carlin is responsible for handling and managing the Company’s legal matters and its outside counsel.

Mr. Carlin has had a long history with ABSi as he acted as the Company’s outside general counsel for approximately 8 years prior to joining the Company in February 2007. While in private law practice, Mr. Carlin was an equity partner at the law firms Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP of Philadelphia and Gardner Carton & Douglas LLP of Chicago and was an attorney with the Washington, D.C. law firm Arnold & Porter LLP. At these law firms, Mr. Carlin handled a wide range of complex and sophisticated corporate and finance matters, including domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, capital markets transactions (both equity and debt), complex corporate restructurings and domestic and international joint ventures and strategic alliances.

John Kirschner; Chief Technical Officer

John has over 30 years experience in IT. He has worked for Lockheed Martin, IBM, and the Naval Research Laboratory as a systems architect, systems engineer, systems programmer, instructor, DBA, and as a consultant. John is a certified IT architect, certified business manager, and certified IBM large systems and storage specialist. John is also a certified IT government security specialist (CISSR) and helps establish US government security policies in regard to new technologies. John is the author of numerous white papers, and lectures on
a wide-range of topics that include enterprise architecture, high availability systems, performance optimization, agile application development, and data center modernization.

John has led the development and testing of many security solutions for the U.S.
Government, including the development of secure erasure software and operating systems and databases from IBM, and system solutions for DCID 6/3 PL-3 and PL-4 using SUN, IBM, Oracle and a number of products from other vendors.

John has supported the White House, the House of Representatives and Senate, the U.S. Department of State, NASA, the Space Division of the U.S. Air Force, and has spent the last 20 years supporting the intelligence community including, DIA, NSA, CIA, NGA, NRO and the FBI.  He served as the Chief Architect for the National Counter-Terrorism Center for 4 years and has also supported efforts for the Canadian, Danish and British Governments. John manages the Classified Division at ABSi.

Ms. Birgi is responsible for the overall stewardship of ABSi's financial and accounting activities, including financial planning, reporting, and analysis, as well as banking and treasury functions. Additionally, she plays a key role in the company's contract administration and supplier relationship-management activities.

With over a decade of experience in financial and operations management, Ms. Birgi leverages her extensive background in the federal government contracting industry. Ms. Birgi’s skills and knowledge base span the spectrum of administrative and operational functions, providing her with a clear perspective on how these areas interrelate and affect all company stakeholders.

Ms. Birgi holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Florida International University, and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Dr. Sigfus Bjornsson; Chief Scientific Officer

Dr. Bjornsson is ABSi’s Chief Scientist, and he is primarily responsible for the development and deployment of next generation wireless technologies.  Dr. Bjornsson recently retired from the University of Iceland after completing a 35 year full-time appointment as  Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering.  During that time he also headed the Laboratory for Signal Processing and Communication (SPC) at the University’s Engineering Research Institute.   Dr. Bjornsson is currently a Professor Emeritus and he maintains a permanent research affiliation with SPC.

David O. Vogel; VP of Operations

David O. Vogel is one of the principal founders and President of COMPASS Information Systems, Inc. His involvement with Information Technology solutions began in 1974. He is an accomplished technical manager responsible for Configuration Management on large-scale programs for commercial, civilian agencies and DOD projects. He has provided numerous presentations on Configuration Management, Database Engineering, and program management. On a recent program with IBM, he established the Configuration Management team and is providing program staff training in IBM Rational Clear Quest and Clear Case tool technology.

In addition to his responsibilities with COMPASS, Mr. Vogel is active in community affairs.  He co-founded the Bowie High School Alumni Association, is the President of the Benjamin Franklin Leadership Center PTO, permanent Board Member for the Class of '73 Committee, member Bowie Lions Club, and Honorary Board Member of BRAVA, and has several other professional society memberships.  He is a regular speaker at many of these organizations' business meetings.

Harold D. Rutan; Director of Technical Operations

Harold D. Rutan, is the Director for Technical Operations for the government contractor supporting the Department of Defense's Executive Information/Decision Support (EIDS) Program Office for the Military Health System.   He is a former Army Nurse Corps. Officer with extensive experience in Healthcare Informatics and prior to work with the EIDS served as the Director of Clinical Informatics at an Army Medical Center, where he directed and managed large- scale hospital information systems conversions.

Harold D. Rutan holds a Masters degree in Informatics and a minor in Information Systems Operations and Analysis from the University of Maryland at Baltimore.  He has a Bachelors' of Science in Nursing Degree from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth Minnesota.  He is married to another military service member, Colonel Paula Rutan, and has two children.

Joseph Russell; Director of Software Development

Mr. Joe Russell manages the software development line of business at ABSi. This includes application development and systems integration for health care claims processing, data warehousing and business intelligence, and for related technology integration and system migration activities. He has over twenty-five years experience in the software development space. Before joining ABSi Mr. Russell spent over fourteen years as a hands-on project manager and program manager at TASC (now part of Northrop Grumman), developing planning, forecasting and other Business Intelligence systems on a variety of IT platforms, as well as serving as the company’s first Business Intelligence practice manager, overseeing geographically distributed project teams. His experience base includes a wide variety of application areas including finance, logistics, supply chain management, health care analytics and claims processing. Mr. Russell has spoken at a number of conferences and industry symposiums on data warehousing, business intelligence, project management, and managing geographically dispersed teams. Mr. Russell also led ABSi’s CMMI Level 2 certification effort. He now oversees ABSi’s worldwide software development organization. Mr. Russell holds a BA and MA in Economics from Northeastern University in Boston.

Nitin Kalra; Director of India Operations

As Head of India Operations, his key focus is to achieve operational excellence, define & execute strategy for ABSi India. He plays a key role as the interface between the business units and the Indian market.

Mr. Nitin is a multi-functional operations and services executive with a unique combination of global experience and broad background in operations in technology and the LPO industry, International business development, strategic alliances, systems  and processes in diverse vertical markets. He was associated with Oracle Corporation before taking up the responsibility in ABSi Corporation.

His principal strength is providing leadership, inspiration and strategic direction that leverages information technologies to deliver competitive business advantages.

He holds a Management Degree in Marketing and Information Technology.
